Arrived and removed current duct work. Was scheduled to return and install new duct work that was not completed.
Arrived to remedy an inoperable furnace. Upon arrival found the system heating and the home close to the set point for the thermostat. Found a fault code present for poor flame sense signal. Tested the flame snensor and confirmed this to be an issue. Checked the heat exchanger to ensure that when the system is running it will be safe to operate. Found some questionable rivets on the heat exchanger. With this being a safety concern and with the homeowner leaving for work soon set a time for a field supervisor to confirm that the system is safe to operate. With homeowners approval installed the new flame sensor. Checked the blower cabinet for cleanliness and found that the fan is very dirty. This impedes the amount of air the system is capable of moving. This often results in a variety of different failures, like damage to the heat exchanger. With the new flame sensor in the system tested system operations. Found that the bearings for the inducer, which is responsible for venting carbon
Today (12/7/24) I was asked to look at the 90% nat gas furnace that is located in the ground floor utility closet. This unit has a fresh air intake that is even with the roof. Due to the peaked roof and the snow accumulation I was unable to access it as well as even see it. The exhaust pipe was not obstructed. I removed the fresh air intake by pulling it away from the furnaces fresh air intake port. The unit returned to normal function after this was done. The client was informed about why the fresh air intake is needed in some circumstances and he will leave the utility closet door open until the snow melts and he said that he would put the intake pipe back on at that time. The other heater that was checked is a 5yr old hanging unit heater. This heater hangs next to a mezzanine and was outputting the heated air straight out. This heater is not located in a large space. What was discovered was that the heater would throw air heated air around the circumference of the
Arrived for furnace maintenance today. Static pressure is failing, reading outside the max rating. Carbon monoxide test was 0ppm. Heat exchanger looks good right now. The motor amps are running high, mostly due to the failed static. The blower wheel is clean and balanced. A field supervisor will be out next Wednesday to discuss the failed static and mini split systems. He will bring a filter and swap them out. System is running upon departure. Thanks for choosing LBA.
