Completed heat inspection for customer, all aspects of heating tested within, manufacturer specifications. Static pressures were elevated, adjusted blower speeds and static improved but still out of spec. Bacterial growth noted inside air handler, contacted field supervisor to advise customer on options to correct condition.

Arrived to do a performance maintenance. Upon inspection of the system found that the vent has been leaking flue condensation into the furnace and utility closet. Set up for combustion analysis, temperature split, static pressure test, and carbon monoxide tests. Found that the system is operating with failing static pressure. Spoke with homeowner about the static pressure issue and how this can impact the furnace. Verified operation of all mechanical and electronic components of the furnace. Checked blower for cleanliness and to see if there is any play in the bearings. Found the blower wheel is heavily coated in dust debris. Checked systems heat exchanger to ensure proper venting of flue gas. Found large hot spots and excessive rust present. Heat exchanger is in “end of life” condition. Spoke with homeowner about the system. Furnace is operational at this time.

Completed furnace maintenance and inspection. I checked all component and and amp draws. I tested airflow and temp splits. I cleaned flame sensor and cleaned up furnace and water heater. 2 yr old furnace is running within manufacture specifications. Only concern with the system is that there is no surge protection on the system. Spoke with customer about adding extra protection for the system. Customer would like to think about it for now. Customer had a new thermostat sitting on the counter and wanted that installed. I installed new thermostat and when I turned the temperature up on the thermostat, the thermostat would glitch off and back on. I went down to the furnace to reconfirm diagnosis. I ended up finding out that the humidistat wire had worn against the metal ductwork which exposed bare wire. The bare wire was touching the metal which grounded out the system. This is why the heat wouldn’t work. After I fixed wiring, the system ran as it should. Air filter needs changed out asap.

Arrived for furnace out. Upon inspection there was a code for wiring issue. I put in a new fuse and changed thermostat. Board was getting power to it, there was a call for heat, but furnace was not turning on. The board is bad. We will be ordering the new board on Monday and calling to come install. Arrived to do a performance maintenance. Set up for combustion analysis, temperature split, static pressure test, and carbon monoxide tests. Found that the system is operating with failing static pressure and is on the verge of overheating. Found carbon monoxide in the air stream. Reached out to a field supervisor to finish the diagnosis on the systems static pressure and verify the carbon monoxide content in the airstream. Verified operation of what components I can test without running the furnace. Checked blower for cleanliness and to see if there is any play in the bearings. Found the blower wheel is heavily coated in dust debris. Checked systems heat exchanger to ensure proper venting of flue gas. Found large damage and excessive amounts of rust. Performed a retest, with the field supervisor, to verify the carbon monoxide content and found that both meters are reading unsafe levels of carbon monoxide. Furnace is disabled at this time.

Went for a furnace inspection today. Did a static pressure test, it failed. Filter is clean. Did a carbon monoxide and gas leak test, no leaks. Combustion analysis test passed. Inducer motor amperage passed. Gas pressure and pressure switch passed. Flame sensor was cleaned. Blower motor amperage passed and blower wheel is slightly dirty. Thank you for choosing LBA services!

Completed heating tuneup. Heat pump wasn’t running. After further diagnosis I found the unit over pressurized causing the high limit to trip. I recovered refrigerant and system ran as it should. Indoor unit does have bacterial growth and rust throughout.
